I inherited my fascination with family history from my late mother. As her own father was ageing, she gleaned from him as much information as she could about their family’s history, recording everything in notebooks, and mapping out hand written family trees and branches on huge sheets of paper spread out on the living room floor. This was, of course, in the days before computers and genealogy software. Later on, when I had taken over the stewardship of the family records and, thanks to the internet, had massively grown the knowledge base we had, she marvelled at what was now possible.
From those humble beginnings we now have some 10,500 names on our database and probably thousands of photos which help bring our story to life.
